another jack stand placement question

Im am looking to pull off my front wheels on my 74 911 for refinishing. I have read several threads on jack stand placement for the front end. Is is safe to place the jack stands on the track control arms just behind the tow hooks? The car will be on stands at least a week with a full tank of gas.

The front torsion bar mounting points is a good spot. Very solid.

Walt, is that the same lacation as the track control arms I'm referring to?

Tom,

If you have Wayne's book it shows the front torsion bar cover placement for jacking up your car. One of the first projects.

Basically, you will see the "half rounded" cover with two bolt heads showing. Your jack and the stands "cradle" this torsion bar cover nicely. Seemed very solid when I used these last weekend, I gave my car a good shaking to be sure. I also put the wheels under the pan below the doors and run some 2x4s accross the whole pan to the other wheel as a backup plan.

I get nervous under a car :)
