Identify this strut tower mount/brace

Can anyone identify this strut tower mount/brace. Looks like a nice deal that would tighten up the upper strut mount. Never seen one like it (which does not mean anything).

I guess I was just curious who may have made it and whether its worth keeping or not.

So far it does not seem look like the car this was on had any other upgrades.
Thanks,

Jackpot, thanks 87911. Guess I didn't look very hard!

Since I haven't driven this car yet, is this brace worth a crap?

Some people think the brace shouldn't be part of the strut, only the body. It won't work with any of the monoball setups that I know of. It's a good enough piece until you really get in there and start improving the suspension with all the goodies. At that point, there are better devices. Many are designed to go with the particular monoball that various companies sell. Two of the braces available have a diagonal second brace that really stiffens things up.

For what you may want, it will work better than nothing. BTW, how did it get so grundgy looking? That's a lot of water in there to do that, or is it something else?

Thanks Milt,

We are in Chicago and I bought this 72T last summer. For the price I paid for it, I got a lot of parts to use on my 72E wich is in much better condition body wise. It had been sitting for a few years and has a lot of rust up high. It probably sat outside and had a lot of snow on it since the tops of the fenders rusted out. Strangely enough the floors seem to be ok. Heck, its probably nothing more than a parts car to most fellows, but my plans are to put it back together some time.

I am pulling the best parts off both cars such as turn signal buckets and h-4's. I shall put the E back together so I can use it this summer and then tear the T apart. So I was wondering if it will go with the 22's and 28's and the Bilstien sports that are going into the E. Sounds like it will be ok. I'll pull it and get the parts plated with the rest of the parts going to the plater fella.

It's a good part; it has worked fine for me. not super light, but strong. There is always the question of how much any strut brace actually does but that's another thread. plate it and put it on!

Here's a good link on the problem with this type of bar.

How to modify a weltmeister strut bar so it is "right".

I recently bought one used and after I cleaned it I noticed stress cracks on both mounts. I believe this was caused due to the strut being tied to the bar mount and not being able to move as it should. A friend welded the stress cracks and I am about to drill out the center so that the strut can move.
