Installing new batt. cable to starter.... Moving batt to very front of car...(pc 680) of course old cable are too short,,must be time for a new one anyway,,any tricks or sugestions to fish it out and get the new one in?? |

Oh and what size cable to use 'other then stock'?? |
|
Factory recommends 35 mm2 cross sectional area for wire.....I *think* this would be 2 awg gauge....check the charts. Look here--->http://www.simetric.co.uk/siwire_elect.htm I also understand that welding cable is a bit more flexible and pliable ( more/finer strands and different rubber sheathing compound) that would make re-running this a bit easier...haven't done it though. Wil (EDITED awg wire gauge size estimate) |

Yes thats what I Am going to use...the only problem,,might not go over top the torq. tube like stock.......ahh so what, bigger is better right? |

I've used welding cable before, without issue I'll add. BUT, be especially careful in that it has a softer easier to slice covering than dedicated auto cable. It is soft and with finer wires has more surface area. I'd recommend and have had great luck checking with a Big Rig shop where they will mark, solder and finish the wires to your desired length with top quality wire covered in abrasion resistant coating. I've run as large as 00' but it is obviously heavier though no voltage loss :) |

Luke,so far the only issue I am haveing Not a biggy) is re doing the hole in the fire wall as it is not big enough....not sure about the hole in the tail end of the tunnel....have not got there yet. One other scary thing is the hole in "my" fire wall had body putty in it ,not a nice fat rubber grommet as I was expecting....no problems as nothing was chaffed......but maybe could of in future |
