Weber 46 Settings for a 2.7

Does anyone have any baseline Weber 46mm settings for a 2.7 engine with 9.1:1 and S cams?

I would like to know your results.

i.e. What chokes, mains, emulsion tubes are you using?

I will use these 46s on my 2.7 for an "RS".

Thanks!

Aren't 46's way too big for a 2.7? '40 are a much better fit. You might want to seach the archives on this.

FWIW, I have 2.7 with slightly lower compression but S cams. My jetting is 55 idles, 155 mails, F3 e-tubes and 180 air correction jets.

40 IDA are good up to 3.2L for street motors. 46's would be good for 2.7 race motors where you aren't concerned about idle. Being that the cams are S cams then this sounds like a street motor so you'd do better with 40 IDA's.

The 46's should bring enough money to get the 40 IDA's and then some since they aren't that common and racers need them.

Can you describe the use of the motor more?

As mentioned above, I wouldn't use 46's on a 2.7L unless it were the hottest of race motors. You'll have basically zero throttle response below 5000 RPM...

Thanks for all the great responses. I was looking for this feed back. I would like to put this engine in my RS Replica. I will use it with a 901 gearbox with closer ratios that the 915. I live in an area with lots of twisty back road (New England) and have the oppy to sometimes wind out my engines. I do not drive terribly fast on the road, but I like to take it to the redline in 1-2-3, then I ease up. This car will not see much city stop and go traffic. I have a 2.0S and a 2.4E (190hp) both on IDS 40s. I just thought that the 2.7 would go bananas in the higher revs with S cams, 9.1+:1 compression and 46s. The CR gearbox should make up for any throttle lag as the engine will stay in its power band right through the gears. I figure that the 46s would work in their leanest configuration. I have heard of 2.7 running on 46s and would love to hear more on their settings. I have an extra set of 40 IDA kicking around should the 46s bog the engine too much. Keep the feedback coming guys! TIA.
