My car got hit today

Old man in an F-350 backed up onto my car today in a parking lot.

This is on the eve of a great gathering of Pelicanites this weekend to drop the engine and do a bunch of maintenance. Just one more thing I guess. Will need new paint.

Back fender is pushed in on the curves and the paint is scraped.

I feel for you man!! At least you know who they were! I had this happen to my truck twice in one year. I even got the license plate of one of them and they claimed they weren't anywhere around there. Guess who ended up paying.

Yup - really sucks. My last car was 2mnths old when a sales rep put a nice long graze down the side as they backed out of a park. I got her number, went to her place that afternoon & found my paint on her car as well as traces of hers on mine. She still denied it!! Had to pay myself

What is about old guys in parking lots.

I only had my just about flawless SC for 2 months when an old guy backed into it in a parking lot. My horn was blasting, my headlights flashing and no chance to get into reverse and out of his way. The worst part was when he said, "I don't know why you're so upset; it's just an old import."

Im sorry bud, I know how you feel. Word of advice, dont rush into a shop make sure you look at many and find one that you are comfortable with and have heard good things about.

did you beat the old man's a$$? i know i would have opened the post incident conversation with the following string: " What the f--- were you looking at? What were you thinking you SOB?" maybe then i would have calmed down.

No I didn't beat the old guy.

He got out right away and took a look and then parked. I was standing there so it wasn't a big scene. he got out his info and I filled out my accident stuff. He waited around inside the store while I called the info into my insurance company.

By the time I got home he had already called my house trying to find out if he had my name correct.

He was a good one to have an accident with.

The first thing my adjuster said was "did they have insurance?"

Yes.

Huge sigh of relief... oh good.

I'm thinking Ducktail since the back will have to be painted. I don't think there was any real damage to my rear lid though.

Sorry to hear this, Brother. It would be my luck to have done all this work and have that happen to me. At least you were planning to put the car away for a little while. Now, while you work on the motor, the bodyshop can paint the car. Have it delivered w/o the motor/trans.

They can't drive it around and carbon up the motor.

Just a note:

Make sure you ask the body shop for a 1/2 pint of the paint used to do your car........ I.E., the best source for "touch up" paint....

Those pesky nicks you get on the front bumper and valence etc....

all my motor fixes were planned to be a one-two day affair. This is my daily driver. The other insurance company owes me a rental car for the time being while it is fixed. I think I'll have Bob Jones Autowerks do the work and I'll just have them drop the engine before they do.

Thanks for the tip on the touch up paint.

Hell no. We are still go for this one. We'll do our work and then Kathy gets to do battle with State Farm. Carlos will work his bondoless magic and they'll repaint it. Hopefully I can get a discounted ducktail out of this.

I would say yours is worse.

Jone's Autoworks is handling the repairs. Carlos is their body guy. Probably one of the only guys in San Antonio still doing lead. No bondo is going on this car.

I'm going to have them throw on a GT racing ducktail since they'll have to repaint the rear decklid anyway.

After that, they get it for a front end alignment.
