Help on selecting T bar size rear
I am rebuilding the rear suspension soon with new bushings and lowering to euro height on the 87 Carerra. I have 21mm bars in the front with new bushings that I did last fall. Do I want to upgrade the rear T bars also? What size would I need for mostly street and some auto-x? The reason I am concerned is the lower ride height and the horrible roads here in Michigan. Thanks for the help!

Do a search......much said on this topic and there is no "one" right answer.
If you aleady have 21 front and are "OK" with that...go "at least" 27 in the rear....but consider 28 or 29, depending on you tolerance for bad roads. Wil |
I second Wil's excellent suggestion...27mm rears. Bombed out roads will make it challenging to tolerate much stiffer.

29 isn't going to kill you. I think the standard response for the G50 is either 21/28 or 22/29.
I have 22/29 with Bilsteins (HD frt., Sport rear) and it's not harsh at all. On nasty roads it'll beat you up some. But nasty roads beat me up even more so with the stock stuff. Seemed worse with the original setup because the shocks, bushings were worn and the springs were softer. Bumps are now a solid !THUD! instead of a nasty !WHACK! that reverberated throughout the entire car with the stock setup. Whatever you choose, you had best upgrade the rears to maintain some sort of balance. |
