Header & Exhaust alternatives for 71- 2.2/911T engine.

Hey Everyone,

I am looking at replacing the SSI's on my 71 2.2 911T engine. The exhaust is also shot.

The car is predominantly a track car so there will be no air/heat. What are my alternatives for headers & exhaust. Are SSI's my only option? Ideally, I would like to go with headers and one of Mb911's exhausts. (If he makes one for my application) Please let me know if I have any alternatives? Emmisions are not an issue.

Thanks,

Brent

This doesn't make sense. SSI's don't rust and they are the exhaust. Oh well, there's a lot I don't understand anymore.

Look up European Racing Headers by George in NV and go from there. Sorry, there's no link I can find. Try the online phone book.

When I was looking at headers vs SSIs, all the stainless headers on the market cost more than the SSI heat exchangers. I recall that SSI will make headers (leaving off the extra metal) but there wasn't any cost savings.

So if you just want to save the weight, you could just cut the h.e.s off the SSIs you have now.

Thanks Guys...The SSI's were neglected previously and there is a large hole punched into one of them...Hence, I figured they were pretty much done.

I will take some pictures and maybe someone can let me know if they are salvageable.

Thanks,

Brent

Brent,

The heating shroud part of the SSI's may be shot, but if the pipes are still intact you should be fine. Just remove the heating shroud's.
