Steering column feels loose?

I noticed today while driving the 911SC (check the sig line) that my steering column has play in it.
I could lift the wheel up about a quarter of an inch. And I don't recall that ever happening.
So, as I drove I kept noticing how loose it felt and I started worrying that som'n might be wrong.
I've not checked into it because I don't know where to start from and would like to know if this is either normal and I've just never noticed or it's a problem and has happened to other people on the BBS and can be fixed with a few beers.

TIA,

K.

Mike's right...buy a bushing repair kit from our host and install it. It's $13.50, and easy to install. Here's a tech article on the installation. It's a "one beer" project, at most. Good luck!

I had this just happen to mine a few weeks ago, it didn't take a while to get that way, it was just all the way bad one day.

The repair bushing fixed it right up and real easy.
