2005 Porsche Parade - Hershey Roll Call
Weekend of June 25/26 in Hershey, PA this year. It looks like there will be a good turnout of R-Gruppe / Early S guys from the East Coast and Midwest. Who's planning to go? I'd like to put together a caravan from Michigan/Indiana/Ohio.

Cool! Is registration required? I've never been to one of these things.
edit: hmmm, looking at their website, it looks like I'd need to re-join PCA just to register ...... Last edited by cegerer; 02-23-2005 at 02:18 PM.. |

Yep, you have to submit an application with PCA to get to attend. My understanding is that it is limited to 600 folks.

I don't intend to enter anything. So I wonder if we can just show up, 'park across the street', and check things out?

"You can attend the swap meet (I think the entry fee will be around $5) and the Concours, but there is no parking at the Concours site. You will also not be able to get a room at the Lodge at the special rate - but as you said there are other hotels in the area.

Yeah, when do we find out if we got in?
In any case, there's a whole week of events, but the concours and the swap meet are what's really interesting to me, so I'll see you fellas there. Curt, what is it about a 7 hour drive for you?

Maybe we should identify an alternative hotel for those not "selected" to be official "Parade" participants and all get rooms there?

I'm in. Can we all use my PCA membership? It's got to be good for something! The swap meet and concours is all I'm interested in as well.

John, I went to the Hershey Swap Meet a couple years back - close to 9 1/2 !! I still can't believe it took that long. We made good time. It'll be more fun with a caravan though.
Hal - I like that idea. Are you volunteering to see what's out there????

Well, I've decided to do a Farewell Tour with the Stoddard motor this season. If all goes according to plan, the motor will hand grenade at 7300 RPMs in late October, just before heading to the West Coast .....
BUt you're welcome to drive it anyway!

Also, for the first time ever, there will be a Swap at the Parade in June, hosted by the Central PA Region. The Parade format is different, as I understand it, from ever before in that each region in Zone 2 is hosting an event for which they are "known." regards, Steve

Curt,
I am there from Friday till Monday. You do not need to be an official entrant to attend the councours on Sunday as far as I know. |

Rennman, you are correct. You can attend many events without being an official participant. Has anyone gotten a rejection letter / email? I know that "acceptance" emails went out 8-9 days ago.
FWIW, several of us have rooms reserved at Simmons Motel. www.simmonsmotel.com . It is reasonably close to the Hershey Lodge which is the official hotel. Ask for Savanah when you call for the reservation.
