Koni to Bilstein install. Does this piece go on ?
I'm installing new Bilsteins sports on the rear, replacing my Koni Reds, and I'm wondering if this sleave from the Koni's gets installed with the Bilsteins. It didnt say anything about this in the directions or in 101 projects. Thanks.

Yes, it keeps the rubber mounts from being torn up by the shock mounting shaft. It also keep the shock centered in the shock tower.

Thank you very much. I guess I have to go and get a new locking nut for the top, since Ive already installed the shocks. Where would be a good place to get 2 new locking nuts for the top of the shock ?
I just wish I would have known to install this. It didnt say anywhere that I needed this sleave to transfer to the new shocks. I drove the car for about 20 miles.,...,do I have issues to deal with now ?

You did no damage. Reuse the nuts as long as the nyloc inserts have not pulled out. Enjoy the new shocks!

Thanks for the info and response. And yes, it was a nice 20 mile drive on these Bilsteins. I'm going to like them.

Next question. What happens when you install the top nut, and while your tightening the nut, the shaft that your applying the nut too, (or the piece where you use a Hex wrench) turns. My drivers side turned about 1 or 1 1/2 turn. Do I need to back it out those 1 1/2 turns ?

That is just the shaft rotating on its seals. No problem. Use a small wrench on the flats to preventing the shaft from turning and a wrench on the nut when it spins and won't let you tighten the fixing nut.
Same proceedure for Koni's but they have a hex head inside the shaft threads.

So it doesnt effect the ride height if it was turned. I thought that was where you would adjust the shocks pressure, with the hex wrench. SO using the hex wrench, or allen wrench, is only so you can tighten the nut ?
If so.,.,good.
