Ben, we took a lot more, but here's one. We also did some level tests on stock and my muffler installed on this car. but I'm kind of leary about posting them here. Also I'm sure this pic got resized. if you want the original, or more originals PM me, or KCPSG

I see that you are not using muffler straps to hold these up. Are they light enough to just rely on the mounting bolts, or do you have another mounting/hanging system?

this is J.brinkley's muffler...but yes he did polish the muffler. and as for having muffler straps, I don't have them on there as of yet..but this muffler is so much lighter than the stock one. I am having to modify the muffler bracket so this will fit nicely and have straps on there.

I have installed one of Bens mufflers on my 83SC and I was able to use hardware store stainless steel band clamps in place of the factory clamps, they work fine. And the muffler is much lighter than stock......................and sounds great !!!

I have contacted Ben on the types of mufflers he fabricates and my question to the people who own one is what type did you by (i.e. race, medium or quiet) and what does the sound compare to (i.e. loudness)? I ask because I leave for work early (like 5-7am) and it's really quiet. Like you can hear a mouse fart a mile away type quiet. After talking to Ben he recommended I contact a few of you to get your opinions. So...can a get a few?

I like they way they look on the cars posted here. Great job guys.
Any help is appreciated...

Thanks,
Dean

Did anyone ever make any sound recordings of this muffler?

Just searched and didn't find anything.

We (jerry and myself) made and are making some recordings of 2 different MB911 mufflers, unfortunately I have no way of posting them on here...I need someone to host the WAV file for me.

I just took my car out for it's initial hard test run since putting factory headers on with Ben's muffler. I also did a complete brake system rebuild along with new Bilstein sport shocks and a tensioner rebuild. I drove over 100 miles the first day and nearly 300 the next. Here is my impressions on the exhaust upgrade:

Order and delivery: excellent communications and quick delivery
Fitment: bolted right up as easy as can be expected
Quality: top notch
Sound:
Start up: definite rumble that tells you this means business
1000-3200 rpm: quiet to building resonance that tells you where this thing is going. You can keep the neighbors happy if you drive it softly till you get out to the open road.
3200-Redline: howls like a F-1 car or an F-40 that I heard drive away. Be careful as my face was stuck on smile for so long it hurt this weekend. This is what a Porsche was supposed to sound like.
55mph-75mph: quieter than stock exhaust
75mph-140mph: it is open for business
Drivability: I know that everybody says that you can't feel any improvement with the exhaust upgrade. I am saying I can! This car has never pulled when it is on the cams like it does know. That combined with the sweet howl of the exhaust has made me crazy about taking the car out on Sunday drives again.

Thanks Ben.

KCPSG and Souk, I can't wait to hear the sound files.

Pohsche, what type muffler did you get from mb911? That was the type of description I was looking for.

Thanks...

If you are in NC and it's mouse fart quiet, it sounds like you are in a rural area, not a city. I'd go with a very quiet stock type muffler to keep the neighbors happy unless it is so rural that no neighbors are near roads...

Remember you are drivin' one o' them furrin' cars - could be important esp. in western NC.

Does anyone have a picture that shows Ben's muffler with 2-in/2-out mounted on an SC or Carrera with valance. I need to see the two tips coming out of a valance to know what it looks like. The valance needs to be cut to acommodate the tip on the right. Detailed pics would be appreciated. Thank you.
