Whale tail louvers blackout, is there a specific pattern???
Ok, a little confusion on what I should do. I am in the slow process of prepping my turbo tail for paint. I have seen some differences in the size and shape of the black inlay on the louvers section. Is there an exact size and shape of this section that should be painted. Or does anyone have a template that i can use to paint it with. Well anyway here's a picture of what im talking about.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1110347486.jpg

bump,....anyone?

It may be located in the body section of the factory manuals. Let me look at mine, if I can readily find the CD. More than likely, there is a digram that indicates the size and shape of the paint border.

Does anyone know why the louvers face the other way in the later 993?

Hey Rick, if you find out the info, I'd be glad to know. Any painters experienced with this, I would like to hear you input on this too.

Bump, All I need is the measurements of the black portion in the tail.
|
Some years were all body color. Also, many wings were prepped after the fact by dealers so that adds to the variation.

Can't help much but I repainted the black portion of my wing a while back using the original line as a guide. I'm pretty sure there is a constant border size around the louvers so that when you find out exactly what it is you would just need to measure it around the wing. Probably real close to 3/4 inch in my mind eye anyway. I can check when I get home if you like.

I will pull out my factory manual tonight, and post anything I find tomorrow.

Dr. Ed E. Size knows why the louvers face the other way...

Well I looked through my 930 workshop manual and didn't see anything. I could measure the border around mine this weekend and get back to you.

I painted a factory turbo tail a few years ago. Mine had a very fine indentation/line/guide around the louvers that was obviously the place to tape for painting.
