Question about hose at oil tank
My first post on this board, have been reading and learning here for a couple of weeks. Recently bought my second Porsche, 1988 911 Targa. The first was many years ago, it was a 73 914
I need help identifying a hose so I'll know what to ask for when I purshase one. Dont have a pic. But it's on a 88 3.2l Targa. The hose comes out of the oil tank between the oil filter and the filler neck, it is about 1/2' to 3/4" in dia.(actually larger on one end than the other) and is about 2" long, it connects to what looks like a PCV valve and then continues on to an to another device located near the hood hinge. It appears to be some type of breather hose or ventilation for the oil tank. Anywho, mine broken and I need to know what it is so I can get another. Thanks in advance yall ..............KC (in South Carolina)

To help those who are trying to help me. I have a picture of the part in question. I'm not familiar enough with the 911 yet to know what it's called

Hi KC,
This looks very much like the oil tank breather hose. It shouold go from the top of the oil filler tube (which is what is showing in your pictures) to somewhere into the airbox. It is meant to burn off any gases/fumes/vapor/whatever that is emenating from your oil tank. It's an emission item; not important to your car's performance, but important for our environment.
