Oil Pressure
I know that oil pressure should be at 60 @ 3,000 rpm. Does anyone know why on some occasions I'll run slightly less driving for a while ( 50 to 75 miles ). I can stop form 5-10 minutes restart and be @ that "magic" psi and other times it just stays at 60? Is there an oil pressure valve or something that is about to take a dump?

I don't agree that oil pressure should be "60 @ 3ooo rpm". I would say that 10-15 psi per 1000 rpm is a better rule of thumb. So...you should be seeing 30-45 psi at 3000 rpm.
Having said that alot of things can affect the oil pressure (engine temps, etc.) and I also wouldn't trust the gauge as an accurate means of measuring oil pressure. I especially wouldn't trust your gauge if it "just stays at 60" sometimes. Oil pressure should vary with rpm. Mike

I'd say, for the average 911, 30-45 psi at 3000 rpm at fully warmed up temps is even optimistic. 3 at 3000, 1 at 1000 2 at 2000 is the rule I have gone by. And in the summer when your stuck in traffic the pressure will be less. The temp goes up the oil gets thinner the pressure goes down.
