911 STs rallying in Germany
I have just got back from competing in a historic rally, that was part of the German rally championship. I was navigating a 1970 911ST and we teamed with a 1971 ST that was driven by Bjorn Waldegard in the British RAC Rally of that year. He was on the rally in a 1986 Toyota. Here is is signing his old car

That's great Nick! Is the German rally the end of the red ST's historic rally career? Since Waldegard signed the fender (wing) I assume that the red car will never be washed or repainted again. Right?

Thanks for the pics Nick. I am sure you had a great time. Were you a driver or navigator? Those are James Avis' cars, correct?
btw, the blue wheel on the orange car looks great.

I think the blue rim was just used for the race, the car has some 7R rims that go up front.
Its the first time I have seen both these cars with stickers over them and I think they look great. Looks like you guy has a great time Alan.UK

I was navigating for Dave Cavanagh in the 70 ST, the other is owned by Jim Avis. The event was a tarmac stage rally with pace notes. My first time as a navigator was a lot of fun, we finished the event which was a "demonstration" run, but that didn't mean we were going slowly!
The blue rims were borrowed from Jim |

I would like to thank Nick for stepping in at the last moment to codrive the other 911ST He saved the day The car i drove is Blood Orange not Red The trouble with with being the driver and codriver is you cannot take action photos of your car The rally took place around the town of Daun in the Eifel mountains
The cars next outing is to the Isle of Bute in Scotland Then down to the South of France to a Rally from Orange to Monte Carlo |

It is so cool to see these valuable Porsche time machines still being driven as they were intended, rather than languishing in some museum. Thanks for the pics!
