pops out of first gear....

i looked through the archives but didn't see this scenario...

when in first gear my shift seems too move back and forth slightly, only if first, also 3 times today it's popped out of first under a heavy load, when it did this there was a loud pop sound coming from the tranny area under the car.
last weekend christian saved the day with help replacing my drivers side rear wheel bearing.
also there is a slight smell of clutch.....
i adjusted my clutch and replaced all the shifter bushings and readjusted all the shift linkage about 2 years ago....probably 13,000 miles ago.
the 915 never really liked going into first while moving, so it was never forced.
hopefully i'll be able to correct this with some more adjustments, but i have a bad feeling on this one.
i need some insight and some luck.......
any thoughts?

yep.....read that one......
i'm going to get under and check things out later.......
second what does a used 915 gearbox go for? never hurts to have a backup tranny, and it would allow me to drive the car while i rebuild my current 915.
thanks

$700- $850 is average for a known good one. most are a pig in a poke though, so buy cheap if the seller hasn't had 1st hand experience driving it.
