how do you survive without your car?

I need some sanity tips since I have been without since November and probably will be without for another couple of months. Buying parts just doesn't seem to cut it. Collect Porsche art? Steal other peoples' cars? Rob banks? Halp!!

books, internet, dvd , and a 924 with bad attitude (i can't blame it for the bad attitude though, the 911 get's all the budget, while the 924 still has the oil that came with it when i bought it )

Spend time here! Send the Fuchs to Al Reed for a refinish, do the maintenance work that you don't have the time to do in the summer. I do alot of research during the winter, but I still go a little crazy waiting for the nice weather!!

Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed with the Logitech Momo force feeback wheel.

Unfortunately, there are no 911's between 1974 and 1990, but still lots of other fun to be had.

Just remember that you can't really drive like that on the streets when you get your real one running.

sure i can... i go sideways in my 924 every day ! practice for when hte 911 is ready ... my neighbours did look at me with the evil eye last week , we had 5 days of snow ( exceptional here ) , the parking lot was my own little fun area...

"remember kids... sideways once a day , keeps the doctor away"

Yep, that helps some.

Sure, there's two mid year turbos.

What do you mean? There's a 3.0 Turbo and a 3.3 Turbo from the 70's!

And what do you mean about not driving like that on the streets? Hell, it's the only way to drive!!

You can easily forget about the car if you telemark enough. Unfortunately, that requires snow - a form of water that has fled our fair state this winter.

Also...
Ever noticed how your car is always laid up imechanically or in the paint booth or something when some get together is about to happen? Even when you carefully schedule work for the winter...

just get a motorcycle! of course you might have to move to get any use out of it, but unlike the car if you need to rebuild it, it will only take a couple days!

This will sound really geeky, but I have in-car video of my past 911s just driving around. When I get depressed, I just pop the tape in the VCR and I'm set. (FYI I have a 65" TV). It takes a little forethought in the summer, but it does help. Shoot lots of video if you can, even just walking around the car on a warm sunny day will make you feel better over the cold winter months.
