Option code 666

My Alpine White (L90E) 1984 944 has Option Code 666 which, according to most websites, means "without lacquer preservation". Does anyone know what that really means? Was there a special factory coating that normally was applied to some cars, but not others? Does that mean that my car has a straight lacquer finish without a clear coat? I am trying to determine the right wax to use for my finish.

I knew the 666 was going to pull a comment or 2. Heh he.

Whether it is a clear coat issue or not, there never used to be any difference in waxes. Good wax is good wax, but some can yellow with build up. If anything, wax/polish formulated for clear coat is a finer grade of polishing agent. Anything product that is pure wax with no polish or cleaner won't hurt any paint. The more carnuba, the more expensive, harder to use and safe for any painted finish.
