New motor oil info
I never thought I'd start a post on the much hackneyed subject of motor oils, but....
Here is an article on new researchon the effectiveness of Zn additives. Apparently they work less well on Al surfaces because the pressure never gets high enough to activate the molecular change in ZnPO4... http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20050312/fob6.asp

Interesting.....
however, the emphasis is on Zinc-phosphate effectiveness with aluminum as a host material. Some aluminum engines, ( like many of our 911's) have Nickasil or Alusil bores that are much harder and stronger than aluminum.. and might actually promote the zinc phosphate effectiveness.. Wil
