inside Bilstien strut housing

has anyone ever had a problem getting the sleeve thru the strut housing and the lower shock arm to hold it down? I had the shocks out and one side went right back together and the other side (right) will not. You can't see all the way thru the lower strut hole for the crush sleeve some sort of metal is in the way. the forward part of the strut is clear but the openning closest to the door or rear part is blocked just inside the strut housing by some sort of metal.
Anyone have ay idea what I have done? anyone have any experience with this problem
thanks
Steve

I'm not certain what you're asking. If you mean there is something in the tube that the cartridge goes into, there can be oily gummy rubber in the way. You have to use a stick and various other implements to clean it out one chunk at a time.
