Nice! What mods did they do exactly? Looks like LED's.
EDIT: Nevermind... I should've checked out the website first. I see they sell LED conversion bulbs. Looks good!

Wil,
The picture shows the gauges brighter than they really are, still a major improvment over what I had to start with. The dimmer switch is part of the light switch. The nobe that I pull to turn on my lights also turns clockwise and counter-clockwise to vary the brightness of the lights. I'll test the dimming of the dash lights tonight. |

I understand how the dimmer works....my point was that earlier attempts at using LED's as an improved light source did not allow brightness adjustment...an inherent disadvantage when using LED's. I was wondering if your method somehow got around this (minor) problem. They *are* LED's...right?

Wil,
Yes, they are! The original reason I went with LEDs was I couldn't see my gauges at night. The gauges are not as bright as in the picture. My digital held the shutter open a little too long. I can see a vast improvement over regular bulbs. At a buck 25 per bulb, you can't go wrong. Phatnine11 |

Second try at this question....
OK...you like the brightness you have with these LED's.....is it adjustable, like a rheostat ....like original? Wil

Wil,
You are correct, I tried the dimmer switch last night, no change. Phatnine11 |

I'll investigate if you'll be interested in that cost ?

Ronin:
I'm interested, but not sure how far I'd like to go with this. My point was that any finding for a "dimmable" LED set up might instead be a public service ...since many on this board seem to like the idea of LED's, but might not want only "one setting" for brightness. I believe other threads here indicated North Hollywood Speedo can do this...but at high $$$$$.. So you're info might be good for at least all the other guys! Maybe me, too.... Wil

I'm running into this problem too as the gauge lighting runs on 30 year old technology. The lighting looks great, but are they as blue as they are in the pictures? Also, did you find the bulbs too bright to drive at night (was it too distracting?). Thanks for posting some pics.

SalazarS2K,
The gauges are not as bright as the picture. Like I said, my digital probably held the shutter open a little longer that it should have. I turned off all light in my garage and didn't use a flash (as you tell). My conern was seeing my gauges while driving, the tach was readable, I was having issues seeing the oil temp and pressure gauges. Phatnine11 |
