Why you need two Porsches....

Well, I'm waiting on a brain from VDF for the Ruby Sleeper, so I fine tuned Bluebird today and put here through here paces....Sometimes we forget there is a lot of joy in a fine tuned stock 3.0.......:D

Exactly! So you can play with one, while the other is sleeping!

Well Actually you need more than two

One for your daily driver. One for the wife to do the shopping in
One to race and one for tarmac rallies and a spare in case any of the other break down.

Ive got three. A targa, a coupe, and a parts car. The targa is currently the only one drivable though. As soon as the coupe is finished I have plans for the targa. Ive got to have one to drive.

Nice theory. This is the 2nd time Ive have two of them at once and its the 2nd time the running car has gotten jealous and crapped out on me :p. One of these days Im going to have one of these cars that gets driven more than it gets worked on :)

Variety is the spice of life, an early 911,SC,carrera,C2 turbo a formula contential and some other fun stuff in the garage. My wife is such a keeper!

Two (or more) different Porsches for two (or more) different moods...In a perfect world, I'd love to keep my Boxster as a daily driver, then have a "raw" older 911 for a little extra fun!

..for when I'm in the mood for that..

..then maybe a C4 for winter..

..and maybe a true vintage racer..

..something for Julie..

:D

So you can share parts, you sillies! "cept when you do that, they both don't run and then you get asked when you'll have just one running 911. :D

Couldn't agree more. I starting pulling my rocker panels off last night, about an hour after I got home from the track, getting all set to totally redo suspension. Just as I was about to pull the spring plates off, I thought I should probably wait to see if the 993 comes home this week, so I have a 911 to drive next weekend. It sucks only having one 911 at the moment. Once the 993 is home, I won't be so picky about scheduling work on the SC.

Instead of two mistresses in the garage, now I have that situation covered and an off-site babe in another garage. She is feeling neglected too! Is there a twelve step program for this? It is snowy and icy today so I am taking the haus-frau grocery getter to work (my S6).

For me it was first to make one the way I wanted it to be - that was my first Targa (der Buist), AND then my second (3.2) B Group Targa (Weber) that replaced it for some personal & family reasons.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, I got the urge to make a virtually new early S Coupe. When I found "Keller" for sale in Bakersfield, old and worn, but all very original - it was too much to resist.

I find (Weber), the Targa to be a LOT more enjoyable to own, as I use it more freely, in more kinds of ways.

Still and all, I don't want to be rid of either one, although I guess I am less attached to Keller, for some reason.

Mine support my 'split personality'.......:D

Bluebird is more of a 'beach cruiser' you know, those fat tired old Schwinns you see at the beach......

The Sleeper is freakin' lightening in a bottle........

Like D&J says, one as a no-work reliable driver and one as a hobby. I couldn't spend as much time as I do on the 911 on another car. Even my work truck has suffered from a lack of overall maintenance as of late.

I had designs on getting a 356 as my ultimate and final project as I reach age 60 this year. But, my enthusiasm has waned comsiderably. At the rate the prices are going, I'm guessing it won't happen.

I have my kitchen remodel on the slate for this year, so maybe by late fall, I'll be ready for some more abuse.

Two P-cars, one should always be in top shape and ready to go, IMO.

How about so you can debate with your buddies whether one is really a Volkswagen or not? :)

Well for sure ONE OF THEM is NOT a VW! :D :D :D

Uh oh. If parts cars count, I'm at eight Porsches.

No, let's not count parts cars. That way I only have five. A much more reasonable number you'll have to agree.

Maybe we should only count the regularly driven ones. The ones currently insured. I only have three. See? I'm perfectly normal!

randywebb 03-14-2005 11:33 AM

This is an excellent thread to show to your friends, relatives, and girlfriend to prove that you are not some isolated crazy.

For the record, I only had three Porsches for a brief, 2 year period.
