Removing Sunroof: Two questions
 

OK, someone said that all you have to do is cut four tabs with a dremel and the inner sunroof structure would be out. It's harder than that!

There are actually five tabs (one in the back) but more importantly there seems to be tack welds near the back edge of the sunroof opening and then all around the opening (sides and front).

What's the best place to cut to remove this so that a fiberglass panel could be glued in OR should I get someone to weld in the original sunroof panel?

Don't cut of you don't need to....
 

I didn't see a year for yours but on my '83SC I believe I took out four screws and it slid out. I did it while followiing the proceedure to replace the gaskets.

It should be in the Bently manual.

Yes, that's to remove the sunroof panel. I'm talking about cutting out the ENTIRE sunroof structure and support railings.

I cut out the whole shebang on my buddy's car and replaced it with a lexan panel and rubber moulding. I sent Scott at Mulkito a sunroof panel and he formed it to the original.

Sorry just saw this. I had my done. Mark @ Eurotech pulled everything and tacked it from the bottom. Then they welded in the panel from above using a piece of rod as filler on the seam.

I was told the most difficult thing is keeping the roof from warping from the heat of welding.

I am using a headiner. But If I weren't I might think about cutting the entire roof out and replacing it with a carbon fiber roof panel. There is one here in Seattle done some time ago and the current owner is on the board. He would be a good guy to ask as well.
