"Cool" shop upgrade

This weekend I installed a 10k BTU window airconditioner. I picked it up @ HD last fall when they were blowing them out - last one on the shelf - $130.

I already had a wire staged in the wall ready to go, so all I had to do was hack through my beautiful sheetrock job, do a little framing job, and mount it up.

Nice score for that price. And you'll need it in Carmichael come summer. But you'd Better get a little primer and paint on there quick before it rains some more! By the way, put some bird guard on top of it or there will be a permanent nest up there in no time and their poop will eat through the paint and rust out that sucker faster than you can imagine.

Great idea - didn't think of that...

You could probably lay a steak out on your front lawn and it would keep for a few weeks. Out here, it'd be medium rare by 2p.m.!

Todd, A woman I work with told me she had an old table saw she wanted to get rid of and I went over to look.

Turns out it is a Fay and Egan table saw built sometime between 1893 and 1928. Talk about massive. This thing has a double arbor meaning one 12" saw blade runs on one arbor while another - in this case a dado set - is running below the table anytime the other blade is running up top - sorta acts like a flywheel I think. The thing's got about a 4x5" cast iron top. I told her I couldn't take it of course. Runs on multi phase 220 and probably weighs in at 4 or 500 lbs! A collector item to someone, could be restored really neat. Anyone want it, drop me a PM, I think she'll give it to you for taking it away!

It's in Altadena, a smaller city adjacent to Pasadena. I may even have some pictures.

Wanna take a road trip out here to pick it up? I'll arrange it...but better bring something with a little more hauling power than your Porsche!!! :>)

I have the same AC unit in my garage and it works well even on a hot, humid Missouri summer day. Just be sure the unit is tilted at a slight down angle so water drains out the back and not into the wall or garage.

Yup. Actually, the pre-drilled holes for the brackets are set at an angle, so it's automatically at an angle.
