Type of Spark Plugs for 85 Carrera

Hello to all

I'm new to this forum.

Live in SoCal and recently got an 86 Carrera. I'm planning on doing some work on the car myself. I consider myself reasonably handy and from what I've read the 101 projects book is a must have, that I'll be ordering from the host ASAP.

2 questions, the car has about 140,000 miles and in general runs great. Unsure as to when the plugs and plug wires were changed.

Looking for opinions on what the "best" spark plugs are for a 3.2. Planning on eventually autocrossing and taking the car to the track.

Also since the plug wires appear to have been in place for who knows how long, should I replace the plug wires when I do the plugs? If I replace the wires, any opinions on what the "best" wires are

Thanks to all for your help and guidance

You can dump money into wonder plugs but once the fire is lit it is lit. Most of the experienced hands will recommend that you avoid platinum electrodes, multiple electrodes, etc...

The most common recommendation is plain old NGK V-Power plugs.

As far as the wires go, if they are good then don't worry.
If you need to replace, the stock Beru wires are good. Magnicor are felt by many to be the best.

+1 on copper plugs; stay away from platinum (several comprehensive threads cover this).

On my bone-stock '85 3.2 I run NGK BPR6EY (nearly identical to BPR6ES); I've also run Bosch WR7DC+ successfully too. No muss, no fuss.

Very, very good results using BP6et NGK plugs on my 3.2. Nickel and multi ground.

Very reasonably priced at NAPA..stock number 1263 and about $3.50 each.
