Street tire recommendations for Pacific Northwest

Looking for something that will have a good wear life, and be half decent when I get stuck in rain. A good price would be nice too!

I am deeply, hopelessly in love with my Bridgestone S03 Pole Positions. See them in action at Bremerton on Saturday. Awesome rain grip. Unbelievable dry grip.

Yoko ES100s or Kumho MXs. Good experience with both.

SO-3's are the best, but come at a price- Both the cost, and reduced life compared to some others.

If you're going to do any competition events, don't skimp on tires! Get the SO-3's! If you just drive on the streets, and don't push the car hard on a regular basis, a less expensive tire like those listed above will be fine.

Yeah, I don't track the car ever and it rarely gets taken to the "edge".

Thanks,

Nik.

I found the ES100s a bit squirrely at "low" temp. -- low means in the 60's (!) Others have found the same.

Do a search - there are several recent posts on this.

I like the S03s also. But don't neglect to consider Mich. Pilot Sports, and the top Contis and the new Goodyear tire.

I use unshaved RA1s, but if you are not tracing then i think the Yokos are a good value. S03s are nice but cost alot.

You might also look at the Kumho Ecsta 712s - excellent bang for the buck

SO3 in the rain. Best tire I ever owned.

Michelin Pilot Sport in the rain is like running slicks.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE730 is about $100 less per tire than the SO3 and also handles beautifully in the rain.

Hmmm...this could explain why I don't like driving hard in the rain...

I need new back tires. Pilots up front and S03's in the rear ought to be interesting in the wet.

I use Sumitomo HTR+ on my BMW 2 series. Way cheaper than SO3s and a really good tire, to boot. They will even handle a little snow if necessary. The SO3s turn to glass on frozen surfaces.

Even better, try this. Good info:

I thought these were NLA, and had been superceded by the 750's?

Yeah, I think that's correct. The 750 is even better than the 730.
