Bolt identification
What are the two allen key type bolts on the inside of the oil tank, just up from the drain. I seem to have a leak from one.
Jim

Looks like I have leaks around these, whatever they are. There is an allen hole on the end, and threads around the side, then a shaft which goes into the side of the tank. Two identical bolts side by side. Jim

C'mon, someone please help here.
Should these be tightened up? Should the threads be visible along with a portion of smooth shaft going into the oil tank? Any help is greatly appreciated. Jim

Charging up the battery for the camera. I'll post one tomorrow night. Just browsing the threads to see if I can find a picture, or even a scematic of the tank like something from PET.

It's late in the US - 10:40 pm on the West Coast...
These are not the studs where it mounts to the body sheet metal, right? And does 'inside' mean in the tank? Or on the exterior surface closest to the engine?

Hi Randy
It's 2 am here... On the inside, I mean the inside exterior of the tank. If you look at the underside, at the drain plug and go from the bottom of the tank up the side which faces the engine, these two bolts sit side by side and just look out of place... I know a pic will help and I'll add one as soon as I can. Thanks for chiming in. Jim

Sounds like your oil tank was replaced at some point with one from a Sportomatic. The Sporto tanks are plumbed for the two extra oil lines that run the converter pump I believe. So, yes, you should make sure they are properly blocked off/sealed.

Hi Jim
Eric has nailed it... was your car formerly a sporto? They are the ports that supply oil to the torque converter in the sporto. If not once a sporto, then the tank has been replaced by a sporto unit. They are kinda hard to get, so you could probably swap it with some one for a manual version quite easily.

The 901 tranny is original, so never had a sporto. I suspect you're probably right about the tank swap out. I'll snug the bolts up.
Thanks guys
