Dallas Pelicans-I'm dropping my engine Saturday 3/19 if anyone wants to come by...

Well, I'm finally going to do my first drop. My clutch had it's last DE the weekend before last. I also got my new Summit Racing engine stand , so all I need is an ATV jack and I'm ready-I think.

I live in Highland Village (northside of Flower Mound @ the end of 2499). I'll post a map and my number/directions a little later.

I anticipate only dropping the engine that day, and getting it up onto the stand. The plan is to do the "while you're in there" stuff, as well as clean the motor, redo the tin, etc, so there is no rush.

I'm also hoping to get a jumpstart on disconnecting and stuff, so that moslty only the fun part remains to happen on that Saturday

My goal will be to put her back in mid-late April.

BTW- A reminder that the Zim's swapmeet is THIS Saturday 3/12 8:00-12:00. I'm going to take some stuff like my Carrera tail/lid out there, so hopefully I'll see some of you.

Ed, I'm a Dallas guy with a 26 yr. old 911sc that is in the middle of a complete redo (pile) in my garage. I'd be a great student for your scholarly advise. I'll see if I can make it & email you prior.

Doug: I'm not so sure what kind of learnin' you'll get from me! This is my first drop, but I've made it thru my other projects, and we allegedly put people on the moon, so I'm optimistic. That and I've got Wayne's books....

Hopefully a few others will be able to make it, so you'll get a chance to meet some of the Pelicans in the area.

Ed, I whish I can make it .. you where a great help and moral support on my engine drop ... I just happen to be in the wrong part of the country now.

What kind of clutch are you going with?

First of all, it's probably faster to drive to C.S. from Colorado than from Dallas

Andy: I've got a new Sachs Power Clutch. That's really the only new parts I've got at this time. Part of why this will just be a drop on Saturday 3/19 is that I'm going to make a list of what needs R & R'ing and get the parts in and on over the next 2 or 3 weeks. Mounts may get on the list.

The other reason is I feel real old right now, and don't want to kill myself trying to turn this in a couple of days. I literally caught Pneumonia at the DE (one day in the wet) the weekend before last, and I just started to come back from the dead yesterday.

Hopefully we'll get a few people who'll look at this as a Pelican get-together, and not a work party. Although help balancing and lifting up on to the stand may be needed.....

Mark: I am going to get an early start. My honest goal is to have her up with much disconnected prior to that morning.

OK-this is REALLY happening. I spent a nice chunk of change at Zim's today (15% off-swapmeet-YES!) on the "while you're in there stuff", have the ATV jack and new 6 ton jackstands. I'm truly planning on having almost all, if not all of the disconnecting, etc done this week, so Saturday will be a fun day with gravity doing the heavy lifting. Who's all in?
