I just threw a set of these out in the trash. I assumed they were home made, using a door hinge for the handle. Is this actually a factory part??

Exclamation Did they already pick up your trash?

..well....

If your seat rails are at the top of your trash can, I'll give you $200...

Mmmm... If they are at the bottom of your trash can, I'll give you $300

Yes, they are "Scheel" factory parts, "Home Depot" door hinge and all.

BTW, "normally", a door hinge would have at least "3-holes", the hinge used on the pictured seat rails only has two...

A perfect example of "never ever throw any porsche parts in the trash!". I would have sent them for free just to get rid of them.

You've GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?!!!

I THOUGHT YOU WERE YET ANOTHER ONE GIVING ME A "SMART REMARK" ABOUT THE DOOR HINGES! ACTUALLY, I THINK I NOW HAVE ENOUGH MATERIAL TO PUBLISH A BOOK. SORRY, DIDN'T THINK YOU WERE SERIOUS... TWENTY SEVEN AND 1/2 "FUNNY REMARKS" ARE JUST 26 1/2 TOO MANY...

All kidding aside, I must now ask you...

If you had those seat rails, where did you originally get them from?

What model, year?

Thanks!

Armando

I'm confused.

How do you know you need them, when you don't know what they are?

I'm guessing he's looking for the OEM supplier so's he can get some. Most seat makers source the hardware and cloth and foam and fasteners so they don't have to run factories for making each component.

I DIDN'T WANT TO "BIAS" THE VIEWER WITH WHAT IT IS...

IF I START BY SAYING "LOOKING FOR 914-6 GT SEAT RAILS”, NO ONE IS GOING TO BOTHER AND LOOK IN THEIR PILE OF 356, 9XX PORSCHE STUFF. I HAVE BEEN DOWN THAT ROAD BEFORE AS MOST GIVE UP BEFORE EVEN TRYING. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF FINDING “914-6 GT” SCHEEL SEAT RAILS?” MOST OF THE PEOPLE YOU TALK TO, THE ANSWER WILL BE, "NOT GOOD!"

Recent true story…

I emailed a friend pictures of the seat rails and told him I was not sure "where" they came from, and if he finds them, to please give me a call. Well, he found them, 3 months later in someone’s garage on top of a pile of 356 parts! (BTW, the rails are not from a 356, but rather fabricated by Scheel or for Scheel in the 69-73 timeframe by possibly one of their “suppliers”). More to the story… My friend ONLY found the UPPER rail pair and ONLY for just ONE seat (the rail pair that bolts on to the seat, there was NO bottom rails with the upper rail set he found). I could not believe this was happening, as I have been LQQking for a long time. This story is the only reason I still remain hopeful that I will find the seat rails. Well, the “cat is out of the bag now”…

I can be contacted "ajserrano@msn.com"

Thanks!
