What is this .(pic) ...
It sits behind the manifold on the left side of the engine, kind of tucked back in there? The electrical connection broke and does not fit tight anymore - can this cause any potential issues? I disconnected it and it did not seem to affect the running of the car.

If I'm not mistaken, the electrical connection applies 12V to a bimetallic strip in there which heats it up causing it to bend and alter your control pressure (from memory). Disconnecting the 12V source might affect cold running as the engine heat warms it up after awhile.
Hopefully someone will chime in and straighten me out if I'm wrong... Mike

Any chance this may cause idle surging after it warms up?

Idle surging might be from a rich mixture
