I have a Bursch exhaust and it seems like the pipes are really close to the valve covers. Should I put a heatshield of some sort between the two, or maybe wrap the pipes? What do you all think?

I wonder if wrapping them would make it run hotter?

Unfortunately, the Bursch and other performance headers run very close to the lower valve cover. This prevents proper installation of the HeetSheets which rely on creating two air gaps between exhaust piping and valve covers to reduce temperatures the engine is exposed to.
In our tests, we measured as much as a 60 degree difference with the HeetSheets in place using factory heat exchangers. Wrapping headers with thermal tape reduces radiated heat but shortens the life of the header material. Ceramic coating is a good option. Sherwood seinesystems.com |
