Parts counter technique you gotta try...

So I go to the local speed shop yesterday to get a window net. The kid at the counter does some looking the the catalogs, fiddles on the computer, then goes the The Back Room and emerges with... a window net! I was genuinely surprised, since their specialty seems to be Honda neon kits and fart pipes. Some more fiddling on the computer, and he prints out an invoice and says "$49.95" With my best 'swap meet' face, I say "How about $40?" He gives me a deer-in-the-headlights look for a second, then fiddles some more in the computer, and prints a new invoice for $40!

And mom said I was wasting my money going to Jedi school!

I ALWAYS ask for a military discount. I've actually received up to 25% off. The worse thing they can do is say no!

I just wrote up a receipt for $40. What was that for? I'm so confused.

I'm scared to think of what I'd get for $40 on a date, at least in this area. It was my understanding that anything decent started $200

i have this same trick at a bar a frequent. i work the hot bartender chick, drink a bunch, buy rounds, shower her with wit and praise and my tabs never what it should be. i'd prefer banging her, but currently i am settling for a 2 fer 1 sorta drink thing. i do end up tipping heavy.

can't eat yer apple when it's being shinned.

I had the same success at a Toyota delaer by saying I found it for x dollars on the internet but didn't want to wait for shipping. They didn't match the price, but lowered it a lot.

Seems the dealers will negotiate on just about anything.
