CIS super lean- R&R to come - what 1st?
I checked out my AF ratio w/ a wideband setup today. As I guessed, I'm lean, but far more lean than I thought! 18:1 cruising, and drops to 16 or 15:1 when I punch it. Obviously, I'd prefer 13-14 cruising, 12 when I punch it. Its a wonder I don't have (audible) detonation. The car still runs and drives fine, and pulls fine, but then again I guess I dont' know how it's supposed to pull!
My plan was to make my WUR into an adjustable WUR. I'm hoping to find a donor Audi WUR at a junkyard to either use or perform practice surgery on. (I read a thread where people were taking WUR's from audis) I also plan to take the fuel distributor apart and check to see if it has any gunk inside. I've already tried the mixture screw, but it was turned all the way rich when I first got the car (and still is). My real question is, which project do you think I should tackle first? I know WUR's are troublesome and finicky, so I thought checking that out might solve my problem. However, I also thought that if I took the fuel distributor apart, I might find the problem (gunk, debris, etc), meaning I wouldn't have to risk hurting my WUR. Any advice or suggestions? The fuel pump seems fine so I don't think the CIS system is starving for fuel. Basically, I want to know which is my more likely problem, if not both. Thanks in advance. |
