yet another Brake HARD LINE question
 

I'll be switching from M calipers up front to Carrera units. I'd like to replace all the associated hardlines, including the ones to the master.

I'm pretty sure the Carrera hardline routing to the caliper is different than my M routing. When looking to replace the lines, which ones should I be getting, Carrera lines or M lines?

Or neither and just bend my own? I've heard some lines available at automotive stores "fit" our cars, but I'm not sure I want to mess around and trust my own flaring job....

If you want to make your own you can buy hard brake line in different lengths with fittings already on it. The local NAPA, Pep Boys have it. They run around $3 a line. When I need some I get a few diffent sizes and see what works.

There's nothing complicated, the flares are ISO bubbles the line is 3/16"(4.8mm), the fittings are 10x1.5mm

I broke one last weekend. Autzone has hardline, with fittings, and you can buy a pretty nice bender for 13 bucks. Only downside is that the shortest piece available was 8 in, which was a scooch long for the caliper hardline, but by making the S extra long it worked fine.

You can buy a great flaring tool for twenty bucks and make any length you want.

Bill, 10X1.5? I cleaned all the fittings on my 930 calipers and the tap was a M10X1:

I think you were typing too fast (because we all know you KNOW brakes) - M10x1.0 is the correct thread.

George, thanks for teasing. I'm still not sure what each of those things does, but I'm certain it contains everything I would need. (What is that white/greasy thing in the lower right?)

It's Hazet, but what is it called? "Brake line bending kit?" I'll start my search.

As for sizing of the threads, if I bring my caliper with me and see how well the lines fit, will that be the same for all the threaded parts?

Does anyone use the really thin, white teflon tape for sealing the threads? (is it ok to do so?) Maybe not on the bleeder screw, but on all the other threaded fittings? I've used it on other calipers and it handled small seeping very well.

Yes, you are correct 10x1.0, thats what I get for speaking off the top of my head.

No!!! these are not pipe thread, if they seep there is something wrong

Ok, I haven't assembled my Carrera kit yet but I won't be using the tape.
