Alternator Brushes- what is the minimum length?
Hello,
my alternator light is (lightly) shining when the engine is running 2500+ revs in my 1975 911s. It is not the voltage regulator (already replaced it). According to the 101 projects the alternator itself might be the problem. I opened it and I could change the brushes, if this should be the root cause. Is my assumption correct? What is the minimum length of the brushes? Regards, wullie |
Brushes have to long enough to make contact with the slip ring under a slight "spring push" basis....

If you have the brushes out, replace them! They are not that expensive and the most difficult part is getting to them.
