New headliner, glass removal?

I was quoted $325.00 for a new headliner installed materials included for an 1984 911 w/sunroof. Shop rep during phone conversation said glass removal was not necessary. Is this right?

It is if you want it done correctly, however I'm sure someone has or thinks they have figured a way to do it witout removing the glass.

BTW, replacing the headliner in my '73 was one of the most PITA jobs I did during my 911 restoration.

Wow - $325 + PITA - I'm glad the PO put a new one on my car...

I put one in my 68, took me about three days and that many cases of beer. Get so aggravated at it I'd just have to walk away--and drink a beer.

Waynes 101 book has a "how to" install your headliner . Do not have it done without removing the front and rear glass . I did mine following waynes book and it took about 6 hours . Use 3m weatherstrip adhesive and the small paper folder clips you can find at staples . Mine came out 100% perfect . No aggrevation either . Its just slow process that requires patience . Its a little hard to get used to the stretching and pulling due to fear of tearing the headliner , but mine held in there and looks like a factory install . Here is a picture before the glass was reinstalled .
