Why slip down a slippery slope when you can dive down it headfirst?
I did my 2nd engine drop yesterday to replace a dragging tensioner in an otherwise completely healthy and nicely updated 105k 2.4 MFI T motor. The plan was to pop it back in the car and drive it for a while longer, but the motor was basically sold by the end of the day after receiving a phone call from another Pelican who happened to be looking for one of these for a correct numbers matching restoration of a pretty cool '72.
The only hiccups were a butchered hard oil line (no wrench, was going to have a new one built anyway) and a failing floor jack on the descent . Good thing I had a friend helping with this one. I did my first engine drop solo and didn’t have any problems, but this could have gotten ugly if I didn’t have help when the jack started going out. Ive got a lot of irons in the fire right now as far as the car goes, so stay tuned for even more suspension & engine questions from me, and hopefully a pretty cool finished car at some point. Finally, I have to make a decision on an engine. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111882416.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111882429.jpg Here's the floorjack. I'll be happy to throw this heavy POS out. Sears 2.5 ton, never again. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1111882518.jpg |
