drivers side outside door lock

I have a 1987 911 with central door locks. The drivers door lock has stopped locking the car with the key. It will unlock the car but not lock it. The passenger side locks and unlocks the car. So does the button in the center console. I did a search but it wasn't much help. They did mention a microchip or microswitch, but gave no details. I also could not find a reference to this part in the pelican parts catalog. Can anyone help or make suggestions before I remove the door panel or door handle. thanks

And sometimes the microswitch that is attached to the drivers door handle ( on the inside ) gets corroded or falls off..

Check this microswitch by taking the door handle assembly off the door. You will see a white wire going to the door handle, this terminates at the microswitch

The microswitch is responsible for sending the signal to the door lock controller to lock or unlock both doors.. Mine microswitch assembly was missing. Hopefully, yours just fell off

Good luck

Ok thanks, these are the kind of answers I was looking for. This leads me to another question. Who sells a replacement microswitch if mine is broken or missing?
