Idle and air/fuel controls on SC

My first 911, a '78 SC from CA, will be here in a couple weeks. In the event that the car needs to be fine tuned to the WV climbate, how do I adjust the idle or air/fuel mix? I have a friend who owns an '83 which has the handy-dandy air/fuel screw that he uses to set the idle. I understand that the 78-79 does not have this feaure.

This borders on being a stupid question....but I honestly don't know the answer since I'm new to Porsche ownership.

This is adjustable on your car. The mixture is adjustable w/ a 3mm Allen wrench via a hole in the top of the air flow sensor assembly. The idle is set by turning the wide flat screw on the side of the throttle housing.

If you do a search, you will find a lot of info. The Bentley book also shows how to do this, and I think so does Wayne's "101 Projects".

I am not sure about CA. It is possible the mixture screw has a plug over it. This can be drilled out for access.

Thanks, Paul.

The seller is including a Bentley and 101 Projets, so I'll familiarize myself with the procedure when it arrives. Don't know why I thought the 78-79 didn't have this adjustment?!?

I'm looking forward to fiddling around until I find an ideal setting. The reason I asked in the first place is because my friends '83 ran great in Colorado, but crappy in WV until he adjusted the air/fuel mix. Thinner air issue I suppose.
