I know I can make one a bunch cheaper........

H20911 03-27-2005 08:20 AM

You would they could give free shipping at that price ;)

FrayAdjacent911 03-27-2005 08:42 AM

Now it's worth $306!! Jeebus!

speeder 03-27-2005 08:52 AM

What does anyone have against the freakin' clock??

I mean I can see using that hole for something else, like the huge red oil light on a race car, or big boost guage on a turbo, but just to eliminate it? It's one of the truly beautiful and classic styling cues of a 911, the 5 guage cluster w/ the clock on the right.

Oh wait, I forgot- weight savings, right?

randywebb 03-27-2005 09:29 AM

Yup - there are lots of people who do infinitesimal "weight savings" on their cars. Or someone might just want it to look like an R or RS.

Maybe this is an original factory concoursmobile item??

speeder 03-27-2005 09:39 AM

Most of the great rally drivers just shat before a big race and kept the guages.

That's just ridiculous once again.

Ask a resourceful dealer or Pelicanparts and i'll be they can source you one from Germany.

Not to mention Road & Race Inc. (msroadrace eBay ID) still has seven of them available on eBay for $49.99 Buy It Now.

I guess even people on eBay are too lazy to do a search? WTF?

1973911s 03-27-2005 09:54 AM

Is the $49.99 one on ebay NOS or reproduction?

Michael

kycarguy 935 03-27-2005 04:44 PM

Back in 1992 the factory ones retailed at $8.00 each.

cstreit 03-27-2005 05:12 PM

...a fool and his money are soon parted...

KTL 03-28-2005 06:13 AM

I hear ya Otto. I'm a fool, but there's a limit to my foolishness!

I dunno if the Road and Race Inc. part is a repro. Send them an email? I would tend to think the part is a original Porsche part. They sell mostly OEM Porsche stuff.

Back in 2001, the supposedly NLA factory one retailed @ $19.## something from Stoddard. It was then put on eBay and went for around $200. It's a plastic circle, people!!!!! I bet I could find the necessary stuff from McMaster-Carr or Grainger to make a suitable replacement?
