3.2 hydraulic cam tensioner life
What is the life span of the hydraulic cam tensioners 3.2 1987, had top engine job at 99,000 and replaced chain and gears and chain ramps but not the tensioners. Just curious thanks

I think most people do what you do and put them back in as-is, and only replace upon failure. Lots and lots of 200k mileage motors running with the original tensioners.

Got 270K on mine so far and thats 30 years old. Did a full engine myself at 170K and simply re-installed them. They can last a long time obviously. Maybe one of those things like bearings that you don't do preventatively. Leave sleeping dogs lie.
