Where do I get a PPI in Athens, GA?
 

A good friend is buying an '80 SC out of state - Athens, Georgia to be more specific.

Does anyone know of a shop where he can get a compression check and look-over?

Norcross to Athens would easily be more than an hour drive - up to two - depending on time of day/traffic conditions.

It's an hour and a half.. and the guy is swamped for the next two weeks...

I bought my car in Atlanta last October. He met me on a Saturday, spent 2 - 3 hours with the car and was very thorough. Only charged me about $115, but more if you want compression and leakdown. Really great guy and factory trained in early '70s by Brumos. Tell him Ken from Cinci sent you...

I know Lance, very good guy. I have never had any work done at Franz Blam but they know early cars, there shop is like an early hot rod 911 candy store!!

Also, I live on that side of town, if he is not to picky he can pring it here and I will check out the high points. I could even do a compression check but not a Leak down. I might do it for free if we could get the timing right.

There's a shop in Athens that although they are not Porsche specialists, they are good mechanics... might be able to do a general check and compression/leakdown. Check with Gary at Masters Garage off of Commerce Hwy/441 (706) 543-6837. Only talk to Gary though, as he has other folks to handle calls that aren't quite as helpful. You may want to call him several days in advance because they are usually booked up.

Alternatively, Gary may be able to recommend someone in Athens that specializes in Porsches.
