Ignition switch wiring sequence '70 T
I was having trouble with the tumblers and pulled the damn thing out. When I did all the wires fell out of the back. Could somebody tell me the order they go in or if it matters?
I have to sets of wires that plug into it - 3 wires: 1 each of yellow, red and grey and 5 wires: 4 reds and a yellow Thanks from a dummy! |

Thansk for the post. Hmmm
All my red wires are solid red - no stripes...... 70 and 71 wiring different? Or has my car been rewired or something? |
Not sure about that. The wiring diagram is labeled as 1971.

Sorry for the hijack, but I have a related question:
The ignition switch actually has the key cylinder as part of it? Mine works, but sometimes doesn't want to go all the way over to kick over the starter. I'm thinking about replacing it eventually, and the door cylinders and having them all keyed for the same keys. |
See if this helps at all. The switch shown is from my 71, and the wiring plug is from a 78. I replace mine with the 78 unit and kept the 71 plug and everything worked fine. There should be a plastic cap on the back of that plug that holds the wires in place.

Waiting for John walker to bail me out again.... |
Hey that pic may help me out Project911. We must have posted at the same time.
Thanks! |
Is it still out of the car? Ciould you go around the nodes and tell me what goes where? I can see some of them but not all of them.
Can anybody else help me? |
desperate bump.

I'll be with you shortly...

This is about the best I can do. You should be able to tell some locations by the length of the wire if the bundle is still wrapped.

Thanks a bunch that should get me there. I'll try it tomorrow.

This may help too. You can see from this view the two spots that don't have a wire. (the black holes)
Hope this helps. I've been in the same spot with another plug that came apart and kept me off the road trying to figure it all out. Very frustrating! Good luck. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1112269128.jpg |
