Appreciation Post

I would like to express, once again my heartfelt appreciation to all the contributors to this BBS. Those of you who give so freely of your wisdom, experience, expertise, and craftsmanship, THANK YOU!
I purchased an out of state (MI) 87 Carrera, and while going through the process, I happend to read all the horror stories on the more stringent Cal Smog requirements. One by one, out of state cars failing miserably, and getting earmarked as gross polluters...
Through the wisdom and guidance of the contributors to this BBS, I read, listened, and learned...
The car I purchased was received with an AutoThority air mass system and chip, got terrible gas mileage (Maybe 14 mpg), with exhaust smell akin to that of a dead cylinder pumping unburned fuel.
I purchased a used OEM AFM from a fellow Pelican, along with an OEM airbox, a new Bosch 02 sensor (ebay), and had Steve Wong burn me a 24 pin chip with the OEM map. All totaled to $255.
Today, I hold in my hands, my smog certificate, on the first pass.
P.S. I just received Paypal payment for $730 for the AutoThority Air Mass system and chip, I removed from the car.

Thanks again fellas...You're the best!

April fools right? $255 for everything including Steve Wong chip? I thought SW Chips were $250 or so alone?

No April fools...Here is what I wrote.
"and had Steve Wong burn me a 24 pin chip with the OEM map"
Steve charged me $ 35.00 shipped for the "OEM" mapped chip.

As everyone knows, Steve has the ability to build his own maps based upon countless hours of dyno, mapping, and understanding how the Porsche Motronic system works. This also means he can copy any chip with his chip reader. Steve charged me what cost him for his time to copy the map, and the cost of a chip.
OBTW, Last I saw, Steves chips were $295, not $250.

Chris, I'd like to hook up with you sometime soon. The weather is spectacular. What are you into this weekend?

k911sc,
Can you PM me more details on the AX on 4/23 in Alameda?
Thanks,
Paul
