Black Vinyl Dye

I have some white spots on my dash that won't come out and I want to get some black vinyl dye to cover them. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get vinyl dye?

The best black dye is from VHT, Penetrating Color Dye ,Satin Black, Number 18.04 (14 Euro in Holland). See picture for the Chrome variant(very good for internal reflector side of rear taillights by the way). Satin Black can also be used on black weather striping after a thorough cleaning. I have used this on the exterior striping on my Volvo 240( The Flying Brick), which was faded grey, now afters 4 years still deep black, no other treatment needed. Before I had tried some 6 other products, with dissapointing results. Before spraying, make sure the ambient temperature is 30 degrees Celcius, for example with a warming lightbulb. On the dash, you may want to apply it with a small brush. Good luck,
Jan

Um, I don't think I would be using that stuff to "rattle can" my dash!

If you are looking for excellent interior leather/vinyl dye, start here:

www.leatherique.com

You can either order the exact color code, or you can send them a swatch, and they can match your color exactly, even taking "sun fade" into account.

Marks-A-Lot? KIDDING!

There was a really good thread recently by a Pelican that dyed his seats. You might try to find it for ideas on how to dye the dash.

Eric, indeed not spraying, but applying otherwise, as I described.
Letherique is also an option off course. It fades sooner on such an sun-exposed area imo. Black is easy to work with, so no sampling of the dash is required.

I don't think you can technically "dye" Vinyl. It isn't porous so all you are doing is painting the surface area. You can dye leather because it gets down into the pores of the leather.

I just ordered VHT Penetrating Dye in black satin from Summit Racing for $7.85 a can. If it works well, it is a cheap fix.

Wayne, would you considering stocking it?

Surflex. The best -
Used it on my headliner and side panels. Looks perfect after 5 years.

Surflex says it for leather, have you tried it on vinyl?

Was that over a white headliner or re-dying a black?
