Going to sell my 1968, where can I find that Excellence valuation site?
and yes, I am going to take the "value" with a grain of salt! Just starting to figure out where to start. I vaguely recall the 911t registry site had this stuff online but I don't see it? Also, what is the Porsche Market Letter?

Say it aint so Joe. Are you getting another 911? Excellence magazine (not sure about online) has a price guide from Bruce Anderson, though some say his prices are high. I would try researching the market and see what others are asking for swb targas. The sporto is also going to require the right buyer. I would ask this same question and post your car for sale on the early 911S Registery site. http://d240157.u39.zeonhost.com/forum/index.php?
Good time of year though to start selling, Spring is here and the targa top can come off.

I don't know where to find the Excellence info online, but in my May issue it has Bruce Anderson's early 911 values and it shows the 1968 911L Targa at
Poor: 11039 Good: 12551 Excellent: 16803

Not bad, I am guessing you paid a lot less Joe?

I'm thinking about a cab. I know I know, I've been a "L" and sporto patriot for 5 years now but the soft window thing last year got me all into cabs and I'm finally close enough that when I sell this I can buy without having to tell (beg) wife etc. We'll see. I was DEFinitely not expecting the aforementioned numbers for values, my GOD. Although my car DOES have the fancy old crest that someone was asking a TON for on the classified bbs a few weeks ago....

I'm also a little wary of listing something in a poor condition within 30-40% of the cost of something in excellent condition. I mean, if the car is rusted, in parts, and in dire need of restoration... that falls off the charts and beyond poor, right?

It is always easier to SELL what you have, than it is to BUY what you want...
Idea> Find the car you want to replace the SWB BEFORE you sell it.. Your deal, not mine - YMMV...;-)

St Ignatius: Yes, I would have thought the value would be lower. My car is a daily driver in better than "good" condition and I would expect to get about half of the "good" valuation in Excellence.
SC4S: No Way! Good buying takes patience and that is a virtue I lack. Let me tell you about the time I had an inoperable 67 Land Rover IIA in the driveway for months because I got too excited and bought the VW Thing first before selling the truck. Or the time I had a 914 and this 911 for months as I fell in love the 911 the second I saw it. If I see the car I want I will do something ridiculous and buy it without a ppi, etc. Thanks for the info. joe 68 L |
