MY BAE turbo kit is Running!

i wouldent call it a "monster" at >4lbs of boost...

but as soon i get a boost controler that number will be up just a bit!

makes the car feel faster! but the spring is only set for "3.63lbs"

the best thing about it right now(because its really not TOO much faster) is that it will not fall flat on its face above 5k!

:D :D

Good going, man!!

See, who gives a rip that the car's not perfect beneath that beautiful skin?! You've got a nice Porsche there, and now it's turbo'd.

I'm planning on turboing my 3.2 one of these days.

Congrats!!SmileWavy

air-cool-me 04-01-2005 07:53 PM

it feels like a slightly hot 3.2 right now...

but that will change soon!

TOO RUF 04-01-2005 08:13 PM

Good job!

Almost time to hit the road out to Skull Valley or Jerome. Be careful though!

Sounds like the car is becoming a nice driver after all those initial problems.

air-cool-me 04-01-2005 10:05 PM

get those guys from down south to take a trip up to jerome!

350HP930 04-02-2005 04:15 AM

If you like that, just imagine what 20# of boost would feel like. ;)

air-cool-me 04-02-2005 06:12 PM

ah.. I dream of that kind of power...

jgsgsi 05-12-2005 06:11 AM

I'm not sure if you still have any of the BAE parts but I may be interested. I am especially interested in hearing about the install, shat to do, what not to do, the cost, etc. Please let me know.

PorscheGuy79 05-12-2005 06:28 AM

For a kid who did the install in his apartment parking lot you have my respect 10fold. Congrats...

RickM 05-12-2005 06:52 AM

Good work Nick.....oh, we need pics :)

iamchappy 05-12-2005 09:50 AM

Great going Nick, I've been thinking of you and your progress, crank it up to at least 5 or 6lbs, then install Suters fuel enrichment fabrication, and be very happy at 8 to 9.
Very, very big eye opening difference..

will do! I already did a track day with it running 4lbs...

its fun to beat up on e36m3's! (till i overheated)

I did have some blow by... the motor is kinda old...

but for the first time i could really ask for throttle on over-steer in 3rd gear... (but only if you asked nicely)

I'm gonna go take some pictures now!

I thought Jay did the install(?) Or got it running??

air-cool-me 05-12-2005 06:22 PM

pictures!

yea jay did the install. I sure tryed my ass off to make it work.

cant weld-test fit-weld-test fit

it ran but the oil drain wasent high-enough... so i smoked like a MB 300D

so close... but no cigar.

so i took it apart and pluged the oil feel line into the oil drain line, slaped on the stock exhaust and took everything to jay.

so i cant take credit.

jay is highly reccomended oldschool p-car master..

I did try my ass off though!

it would have been WAY easyer if i have the early HE's and could just use the stock turbo adapter... :(

then it would have been all bolt on...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115952436.jpg

the wastegate is leaking... i took it apart today... and cleaned it up... we will see if it works a little better.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115952493.jpg

as you cant see(because of the crapy photo) the oil drain isn't really downhill so much as level... but it works!
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115952512.jpg

because my car is a total POS crashed up junker.... I OK'ed jay to notch the MM to make everything fit a little better.

this shouldn't be a problem with a car that is ACTUALLY the factory dimensions and not artificially shortened by impacting a wall at high-speeds :(

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115952774.jpg

i removed the spare at the same time i installed the kit... so my ride hight is all messed...(the rear that low and the front that high let to some understeer at the track)

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115952860.jpg

right now the front is about as pretty as my feet:(

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1115952933.jpg
i would like to get back up to washington so i cant do a few more trackdays..!

if there is anyhting anyone wants me to take a picture of, just ask..

air-cool-me 05-12-2005 07:01 PM

BTW... Kurt S.... would you be interested in doing a fall track day with jay and I?

jay should have his RS up and running at that point... and im sure he is going slap me around the track....even with a 2.4.

maybe we can get a few more AZ guys to run with us...
