1974 Carrera engine # help

Hi all,

I'm looking at a 1974 911 for sale that has engine #6340070 with it. The book I have with engine numbers listed is a bit confusing, just trying to figure out if it is 911, 911S or Carrera engine.

Thanks

whats the vin of the car? That is your definitive answer- the number for the motor is correct for a 74.

The vin is for a standard 1974 911. After further investigation it looks as though the 911S and U.S. Carrera shared the same engine type 911/93 with numbers 6340001-6342804, so I guess it's hard to tell if it is actually from a Carrera or 911S, and I'm assuming there would no premium paid for this engine. Correct me if I'm wrong.

My source indicates the same thing--that engine was used in both the S and the U.S. Carrera in '74.

Only US Carrera engine that is special is the one matching the coa in the hand of the guy who owns the car. They don't trade for any premium but 1 person might think it worth extra.

Thanks guys, just what I was thinking, nothing special except to the 1 person that needs that matching # for their Carrera restoration.
