How long has it been?.....

I have owned my '80 SC for over 4 years now. Before that I had a 1988 924S for about 6 years. Before that I owned a 1966 Corvair Monza convertible for about 6 years! In the 41 (or so) years that I have been driving, I have owned 42 or 43 cars! The first was a 1952 Ford Mainline 2 door sedan with a flathead V8 and 3 speed w/overdrive. In between the '52 Ford and the "80 911SC there have been Fiats, Triumphs, a Lotus, Datsun 1600 roadster, 1958 and 1962 Alfa Romeos, a 1971 Ford Torino GT convertible, etc! All fun cars to own and drive but none were in the class with the Porsche 911. The SC give me the most "Smiles per gallon" of any car that I have ever driven. Oh yes, all the above cars were "daily drivers"!

I am going to have to spin it around and say collector & driver rather than driver & collector. I do not get to spend nearly enough time driving my 89 but those times are very much enjoyed. Sometimes I just go and sit in the car for a moment and decompress. The scent of leather and oil trigger happy thoughts in my mind!

This nice old 911 was my first new Porsche. I ordered it a few
weeks after graduating from college and still have it in original
condition – sorta. It has laps on almost every significant track
in North America. It has been driven by many Porsche people
and other racers including; Jo Siffert, Mark Donahue, Jim Hall,
Lother Motschenbacher, Roger Penske, Ernst Fuhrmann, Peter
Schultz, Milt Minter, Vasek Polak, Alan Johnson, Alwin Springer,
Dieter Izenhoffer, and many, many more. Dr. Ferry Porsche only
rode in the passenger seat.

Wow:eek: That's impressive. And a really beautiful car too!
