why don't we have that kind of stuff here in N. America?

I'd go to a mega horsepower hill climb in a NY minute.

Other than Pikes Peak....what else is there...

Too much liability I guess

Yea!! Whoohoo!!

How fun would it have been to be there!?

Three observations concerning engine sounds:

1) Gotta love that Porsche sound - gave me a huge grin when I heard that sweet sound. Nothing like it.

2) Those BMW engines sound like the Formula 1 engines of the 70's and early 80's. They were by far the sweetest sounding of all the non-Porsches.

3) The Mercedes engines all sounded like de-tuned versions of the Merc engines that McClaren used when I went to the USGP in 2000. You always knew when Mika H. and David Coulthard were driving by because the Merc engine sounded quite a bit different then the others - kind of like a higher revving version of the engines on this video.

Sweet! I saved it.

Very hairy driving

I went to Pikes Peak a few years back. I was at about the 13,000 level, the ground would shake when the unlimited class four wheel drive cars of that era went byat about 80-90 mph. Awesome experience. I think they were pushing about 800 horsepower.
Yea, would be nice to see this kind of racing here.

So why is it that when going thru uphill twisities my car feels so much more securely planted? Is it just because I'm on the gas harder than when going downhill? or, when going downhill, is gravity also playing a part? (i.e., gravity trying to pull the arse end ahead of the front end?) Guess it's time for me to go to a DE.

Cool video BTW. Love the P-car in there.

It was worth it if only for the couple clips of the blue P car in there, but damn, the whole video is sweet.
